Le Méridien hotels will soon be keyless.

Starwood Preferred Guest announced a major update to the SPG Keyless system, which gives guests keyless access to hotel room via a smartphone app. The system is currently in use at over 160 Aloft, Element, and W properties in over 30 countries.

The app now supports additional Starwood brands, namely Le Méridien, Westin, Sheraton, and Four Points, and the system is being deployed at nine properties including Le Méridien Parkhotel Frankfurt, Le Méridien Hamburg, the Westin Westminster, Westin Palo Alto, Sheraton Bloomington, and Four Points Cupertino. Additional properties will be added in the coming months “on a rolling basis,” the hotelier said.

In addition to the new brands, Starwood is also adding new functionality to the app that allows multiple guests occupying the same room to use SPG Keyless. Each guest would require an SPG account and the app, which is available for both Apple iOS and Android devices.

SPG Keyless, which was introduced in 2014, has its roots in the Starwood Smart Check-In App, which was rolled out at Aloft hotels in 2011.
