DSC_0264JetBlue Airways announced operational results for the month of May 2016.

The New York-based carrier reported that its May traffic increased 10.7% to 3.83 billion revenue passenger miles, or RPMs, from May 2015, on a capacity increase of 12.1% to 4.53 billion available seat miles or ASMs.

However, it said that its load factor for May 2016 was down 1.1 percentage points to 84.6% compared to the same period in 2015.

JetBlue’s preliminary completion factor for May was 99.6% and its on-time performance was 80.7%.

The airline’s preliminary revenue per available seat mile, or RASM, for May was down 7% year over year. For the second quarter of the year, JetBlue said it expects RASM to decrease between 7.5% and 8.5% year over year, “toward the lower end of prior expectations.”
