United to Launch San Francisco-Xi’an, China Route

DSC_0283 (1)United Airlines announced that it will begin new seasonal service to Xi’an, China from San Francisco on Sunday, May 8. The route, which will be offered through October 27, will be the first transpacific service to the Chinese city by a U.S. carrier.

Flights will depart San Francisco International Airport at 1:25 p.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, and arrive at Xianyang International Airport at 5:30 p.m. the following day. From Xi’an, flights are scheduled to depart at 9:30 a.m., also on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, and arrive back in San Francisco at 6:35 a.m. the same day.

United will operate the service using Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft, equipped with 36 lie-flat seats in business class, 70 seats in economy plus, and 113 seats in economy. Seats in business class are 22” wide and have a bed length of 78”.

Xi’an is the capital of the Shaanxi Province in central China.

Along with the upcoming route, United also operates flights to Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, and Hong Kong from various American cities. Additionally, the carrier plans to begin new service to Hangzhou from San Francisco on July 13.
