Ride-sharing service Lyft announced Tuesday it is testing a new feature that allows passengers to schedule a trip in advance.

The new feature allows users of the service to schedule a ride up to 24 hours in advance of the pick-up time and is available in the city of San Francisco.

The Lyft app has been updated to permit scheduling a ride by tapping the clock icon when entering pick-up location. Rides may be cancelled or changed up to 30 minutes prior to the requested time.

Lyft said that on-demand rides “remain core to our platform,” but it plans to evaluate how well the test of scheduled rides does and will consider offering the feature in other markets.
