DSC_0163Japan Airlines announced that it plans to add Iberia to its joint partnership with British Airways and Finnair.

The new partnership is subject to regulatory approval. If approved, the four carriers would cooperate on flights between Europe and Japan.

“We are delighted to enter this joint business with our allies in IAG and oneworld,” said Luis Gallego, Iberia’s CEO. “With our non-stop flights and this joint business they will have greater opportunities and more benefits when traveling between Japan and Europe.”

Japan Airlines first began a joint business arrangement with British Airways in October 2012. Finnair later joined the partnership in April 2014.

Iberia is set to begin a new route between Tokyo Narita and Madrid, Spain on October 18 this year.

All four carriers are members of the oneworld alliance.
