Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport will be getting its first hotel by the end of the decade.

A new InterContinental will open in 2018 ahead of Terminal 1. Construction should begin this July at a cost of $115 million and will involve the creation of a new skyway and security checkpoint to connect the hotel to Terminal 1 at the airport.

The hotel hopes to open before the 2018 Super Bowl, which takes place in the city, and will have 300 guestrooms including two suites with 16’ high ceilings. A spa, restaurant, and ballroom with capable of seating 1,000 guests will also be located on the premises.

There will be 25,000 square feet (2,322 square meters) of meeting and event space at the new hotel, and the developer is collaborating with local companies and artists to create art installations throughout the property.

The Observation Bar will be on the hotel’s 12th floor and, similar to the suites, have floor-to-ceiling windows that offer guests panoramic views of the airport, rivers, and the downtown districts of Minneapolis and St Paul.
