DSC_0435 (1)The union representing flight attendants and Spirit Airlines announced that it had reached a tentative agreement with the airline for a new, five-year agreement.

The agreement was reached with the assistance of the National Mediation Board. It calls for an increase in salary and improvements to flight attendant work rules, the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA said in a statement Saturday. The details of the tentative agreement are to be reviewed by union leaders and sent to the members for a vote.

“I am thrilled that we were able to reach an agreement with the AFA, providing our Flight Attendants the pay increases they deserve while keeping our airline in a strong financial position,” said John Bendoraitis, the airline’s chief operating officer.

The agreement “recognizes our contributions to make our airline profitable and provides long overdue wage increases,” said Jorge Buchelli, the union’s president. “We look forward to presenting this tentative agreement to our membership.”
