DSC_0782Hilton Worldwide announced that it broke ground on its first Tru by Hilton hotel. Located in McDonough, Georgia, a suburb of Atlanta, the property is scheduled to be completed and open by next summer.

Hilton first introduced its new Tru brand of hotels in January, and says that it is aimed at younger travelers and a “millennial” mindset. Tru is the hotelier’s 13th brand and marks its reentry into the midscale hotel segment in the United States and Canada.

The four-story Tru by Hilton McDonough will have 98 guestrooms, as well as the brand’s complimentary breakfast bar, which will offer a variety of sweet and savory toppings for items such as bagels, oatmeal, donuts, and Greek yogurt. A 24-hour market with snacks and drinks, including beer and wine, will also be located on the premises.

The hotel, along with other Tru by Hilton properties, will have what the company calls “the hive,” the brand’s version of a lobby that will be located on the first floor and offer 2,770 square feet (257 square meters) of open space.

The hive will have four zones, namely for lounging, working, eating, and playing. Table games, stadium seating, and a large-screen TV will be located in the play zone.

Guestrooms will be outfitted with platform beds, 55” TVs, and eight-foot- (two-meter-) wide windows. Complimentary Wi-Fi will also be available.

As with other future Tru by Hilton hotels, the Tru by Hilton McDonough will participate in the Hiltons HHonors guest loyalty program.
