Heathrow Connect services were suspended last week without prior notice, after the cars used by sister service Heathrow Express were recalled due to what the rail operator called a “technical issue.”

Heathrow Connect is a less expensive version of Heathrow Express, and offers service to the airport from Paddington Station in Central London, with stops at Ealing Broadway, West Ealing, Hanwell, Southall, and Hayes and Harlington.

Heathrow Express, which offers non-stop service from Paddington Station to the airport, is using the Heathrow Connect cars.

“As a result of a routine maintenance check by Siemens, a technical issue has been identified which has resulted in the majority of the Heathrow Express trains being taken out of service as a safety precaution,” the operator said in a statement.

The recall was termed a “precaution” although a crack was found in the underframe of a Heathrow Express car at the end of last month.

Officials at Heathrow Central said Monday there was no word on when service might resume. Until the recall and any repairs have been completed, Heathrow Express will not offer a first-class cabin, onboard Wi-Fi, or onboard power outlets.
