First Day of Spring to Bring Snow to East Coast

The calendar may indeed say the first day of spring but the weather outside may be frightful on Sunday. A cold front heading across the country is likely to join forces with a storm that has already left over a foot of snow in its path and will make for an extended winter wonderland in parts of the United States.

Most of the country from the Plains to the East Coast and even the Southeast will see a significant drop in temperatures starting Saturday.

The weather may not, however, be as severe as forecast several days ago. New York State including the city as well as Pennsylvania may get up to 2” of snow.

While much of the region has enjoyed unseasonable warm weather and FBT editors were spotted in recent days walking around wearing T-shirts in midtown Manhattan, it may be time to break out those heavy winter coats one last time.

The storm is likely to bring some level of disruption to air travel but its impact should be far less than that which was originally predicted.
