DSC_0382Air Europa, a Spanish airline, announced that it took delivery of its first Boeing 787 Dreamliner, a 787-9.

The carrier is the first in Spain to operate the Dreamliner. Air Europa leased the aircraft through an agreement with SMBC Aviation Capital.

The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner is the second member of the Dreamliner family to be produced.  Similar to the 787-8, the stretched version of the jet uses 20% less fuel and produces 20% fewer emissions than similar-sized airplanes.  The 787-9 is 20’ (six meters) longer than the 787-8, with greater capacity and a greater range of 8,300 nautical miles (15,372 kilometers). The 787-8 is limited to 7,850 nautical miles (14,500 kilometers).

Air Europa currently has 22 787-8 and 787-9 Dreamliners on order.
