What Are Your Biggest Frequent Flyer Award Redemption Pet Peeves

One of the few remaining joys of travel is the ability to earn miles and points that can be used for even more air travel. You’ve applied for and gotten 22 credit cards, done a few mileage runs, and started a new job that keeps you in the air more than George Clooney. You’ve accumulated 480,000 miles, more than enough for those four business-class tickets to Scandinavia for your family’s summer vacation.

Your joy is short lived, however, when attempting to redeem those miles. There simply aren’t four seats on the same flight available in June, nor in July, nor in August. Next February is possible but who wants to go to Stockholm and Oslo in the middle of winter?

Airlines aren’t as generous with award seats as they used to be and it sometimes seems harder to find a direct flight for you and your family for than to win the lottery.

Once again, Frequent Business Traveler is collaborating with FlyerTalk, the world’s largest online community, and Expert Flyer, a leading air travel information service, to reveal which aspects of the award redemption process irk the frequent flyer the most. To let us know, simply drag your biggest pet peeves to the top of the list and rank them in descending order. The survey will run through March 18, 2016

The list we have compiled, with input from frequent travelers and members of FlyerTalk, only includes issues you are likely to run into when trying to book an award. Other surveys have and will cover different air travel and frequent flyer program-related issues.
