DSC_0373The megamerger between Marriott International and Starwood Hotels and Resorts took one step closer towards closing when the two companies announced that they will each hold special stockholder meetings at the end of March to approve the fusion.

Both companies have scheduled the stockholder meetings for March 28, 2016 at 10 a.m. EDT. Marriott will hold its meeting at its corporate headquarters in Bethesda, Maryland, while Starwood’s will take place at the Sheraton Stamford Hotel in Connecticut.

In a statement on Wednesday, the two companies said that they are continuing to cooperate with antitrust regulators in the United States and elsewhere in the world where the two operate in order to gain regulatory approval for the transaction.

The transaction is slated to close mid-year, subject to customary closing conditions and Starwood’s divestiture of its vacation ownership business.
