IMGP5613 (1)JetBlue Airways announced it will make complimentary gate-to-gate Wi-Fi available on all of its Airbus A320s as part of a fleet-wide redesign of the aircraft. The upgrades will also include new seatback monitors with new entertainment options.

The airline will enable gate-to-gate access of Fly-Fi, JetBlue’s complimentary wireless high-speed Internet service that is powered by Thales and ViaSat. The service offers 12 to 20 Mbps to connected devices.

Gate-to-gate Wi-Fi allows passengers to connect to the Internet on their personal devices during takeoff and landing, from the time they board through landing.

In addition to the introduction of gate-to-gate Wi-Fi, JetBlue will offer a new Internet-connected in-flight entertainment system with over 100 channels, as well as of 300 on-demand movies. New 10” seatback screens, nearly twice the size of current displays, will also be installed on the carrier’s A320s, and each seat will be equipped with a power outlet and USB charging port.

JetBlue plans to begin the upgrades early next year, with completion scheduled for 2019. In addition, the carrier says it will install gate-to-gate Wi-Fi on 15 of its 25 A321s in the second half of next year.
