DSC_0596 (1)The East Coast could potentially get its first real taste of winter this weekend, as a major snowstorm is expected to hit areas of the region. Just ask the meteorologist who tweeted “GFS 00z dumps 30-36″ wind driven snow with blockbuster blizzard for the ages this weekend. Crippling impacts.”

The National Weather Service reports that the storm will bring heavy snow to places from Virginia to New England, as well as major rains to Georgia and the Carolinas.

As much as two feet of snow could be seen in cities such as Washington, D.C., New York, and Boston. The National Weather Service says that coastal flooding is also a possibility.

Travelers in the Mid Atlantic and Northeast should prepare for treacherous driving conditions as well as flight delays and cancellations.
