Southwest Airlines Reaches Tentative Agreement with Ground Workers Union
Southwest Airlines said it has reached a new tentative agreement with the union that represents some 12,000 ramp, operations, provisioning, and freight agents at the airline.
The Transport Workers Union of America, Local 555, said that the union’s executive board will conduct a ratification vote after negotiators reached an agreement in principle on December 23. The move would end over four years of negotiations.
The contract provides for improved wages and benefits, the airline said.
The TWU plans to share the details of the tentative agreement and conduct a ratification vote in the coming weeks. If approved, the agreement will become amendable in 2021.
Last month, Southwest’s pilots rejected a tentative agreement reached in September, with 62% voting against the deal.
