DSC_0723The number one airline in the world by revenue paid the number two airline a significant compliment on Thursday.

American Airlines’ chief operating officer, Robert Isom, congratulated Delta Air Lines on its operational performance during a presentation at the Credit Suisse 3rd Annual Global Industrial Conference. “Delta’s done a great job. Hats off to them,” he said at the meeting.

The Atlanta-based carrier is “operating at a level that’s never been seen before,” he said, adding that American is “not too far” from Delta with respect to on time departures and adding that Delta is “distinguishing” itself with its completion factor, the percentage of scheduled flights completed.

During its summer flight season, Delta said that it had had a completion factor of 100% on 21 days over the 74-day period, compared to 16 last year.
