DSC_0085Air China announced it will begin to operate service linking Beijing and Havana with a brief stop in Montreal, Canada by the end of December.

The service is an extension of the existing Beijing-Montreal route and will begin on December 27. The airline said that the new flight “will be the first of the kind between China and Cuba.”

The capital-to-capital service brings the number of destinations served by Air China in the Americas to ten, including New York (both John F. Kennedy International and Newark Liberty International airports), Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, Hawaii, and São Paulo, with over 140 flights per week from the two continents.

Air China will operate the flights three times a week on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays using Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. Flights will depart Beijing at 2 p.m. local time and arrive in Montreal at 1:40 p.m. and Havana at 8:15 p.m. the same day. Return flights depart Havana at 9 a.m., arriving in Montreal at 12:30 p.m. and in Beijing at 5:30 p.m. the following day.

The airline’s first- and business-class cabins offer fully lie-flat seating and a central bar.
