American to Launch Los Angeles-Auckland, New Zealand Route

DSC_0275 (1)American Airlines announced that it will begin new daily service from its hub at Los Angeles International Airport to Auckland, New Zealand next June. The carrier will operate the service as part of its joint venture with Qantas, Australia’s flag carrier.

Flights are scheduled to depart Los Angeles t 10:45 p.m. and arrive at Auckland Airport at 6:35 a.m. two days later. From Auckland, flights will depart at 1:20 p.m. and arrive at 6:30 a.m. the same day.

American will operate the service using Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft, equipped with 28 lie-flat seats in first class, 57 seats in main cabin extra, the airline’s premium economy lite section, and 141 seats in economy. First-class seats are 21” to 26” wide, and have a bed length of 77”.

In addition to the Los Angeles-Auckland transpacific route, American plans to begin new service to Sydney, Australia this December. Meanwhile, Qantas is will launch new flights between San Francisco and Sydney, also scheduled to begin this December.
