American Airlines announced that members of the union representing its reservations and gate agents had approved a new five-year contract.

The world’s largest airline had reached a tentative agreement in September with the union representing the workings – the Communications Workers of America and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters – for a new five-year contract.

The contract that was approved by the airline’s 14,500 passenger service employees in the United States gives workers “immediate and significant pay raises.”

The airline said it relies on its gate and reservations agents “to give our customers the best service in the industry,” and believes that the new contract “reflects their contributions toward the airline’s success.”
