Transaero Airlines announced Monday it will shut down its hub at Moscow Domodedovo International Airport and operate solely from Vnukovo International Airport, effective October 25.

The airline said that the decision to move operations to Vnukovo was “made with consideration for commercial and logistic advantage of flight concentration in a single Moscow airport,” adding the move “will allow enhancing the efficiency of passenger services as well as aircraft maintenance.”

Transaero, which is registered in Saint Petersburg and headquartered in Moscow, operates flights on 200 domestic and international routes. Its main hubs are Moscow Vnukovo, Moscow Domodedovo and Saint Petersburg.

Moscow Vnukovo Airport is located 28 kilometers from the center of Moscow. Transaero first began operating flights at the airport in 2012.
