Starwood announced plans to open a new Tribute brand hotel in Hokkaido, Japan this December.  The Kiroro, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, Hokkaido will be located at the base of a mountain in the Kiroro Resort, a world-renowned skiing destination.

The property will have 282 guestrooms and suites, as well as four restaurants and bars.  The hotel will also have a pool and fitness center.

Over 15,069 square feet (1,400 square meters) of meeting and event space will be located on the premises, including a grand ballroom and four separate meeting rooms.

Starwood introduced its Tribute brand of hotels in April of this year.  The company says Tribute will be comprised of independent luxury hotels that complement the Starwood’s Luxury Collection brand.  The company said that it plans to locate Tribute hotels in high-demand destinations to which members of its SPG loyalty program regularly travel, but where Starwood properties are not predominant, and that it will have approximately 100 open by 2020.
