Alaska Airlines, Icelandair to Begin Codeshare, Frequent Flyer Program Partnership

DSC_0292Alaska Airlines and Icelandair announced plans for a codeshare and frequent flyer program agreement.

The codeshare, which is set to take effect November 1 pending government approval, will allow passengers to book one ticket for flights on both airlines, with the ability to check baggage to the final destination when checking in for the first flight.

In addition, members of Alaska Airlines’ Mileage Plan and Icelandair’s Saga Club loyalty programs will be able to earn and redeem miles and points on flights of the other airline beginning October 1. Alaska Airlines is also offering Mileage Plan members double miles on Icelandair flights through December 15.

Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan MVP Gold and Gold 75K members will receive also complimentary access to Icelandair’s Saga Lounge at Keflavik International Airport, while Icelandair Saga Gold and Silver members will have complimentary access to Alaska Board Room lounges in Seattle, Portland, Anchorage, and Los Angeles.
