The author’s room

A flat screen TV faced the bed, and a Keurig coffee maker was on the desk, with a variety of options, including dark and decaf. Eschewing a caffeine fix, I settled in for a nap as I was tired from my inbound travel. The dark patterns of the carpet helped relax me, and the comfortable bed lulled me into a deep sleep.

The bathroom featured a comfortably sized stall shower and one sink. Wyndham-branded shampoo and conditioner were on a shelf above the commode.

ROAD WARRIOR SUPPORT

A sleek wooden desk beneath the TV provided an adequate amount of workspace, and easy-to-reach outlets were provided on the desktop. An ergonomic desk chair was paired with the desk, and the complimentary Wi-Fi Internet connectivity was fast and reliable.

The New Yorker offers 23,000 square feet (2,136 square meters) of meeting and event space, including the property’s newly renovated and rather elegant 6,000-square-foot grand ballroom. The space has 25-foot- (7-meter-) high ceilings and crystal chandeliers, and bears a regal aesthetic that evokes the hotel’s historic past. The hotel’s smaller Crystal Ballroom offers 3,250 square feet (301 square meters) of space, and can accommodate up to 250 guests.

The property also offers a 24-hour business center with a printer and fax machine as well as a computer available for guest use.

WELLNESS

For those wishing to stay fit and active during their trips, the New Yorker provides a 24-hour fitness center filled with new elliptical machines, weight machines, and free-weights. There is no pool or spa, but the hotel’s location makes for a number of alternatives to swimming or hitting a spa.
