Two newcomers, Marriott International and Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts, took over the Best Hotel category. Marriott was recognized by readers as the Best Hotel Chain in the Americas and Asia/Pacific, as well as for having the Best Guest Loyalty Program, while Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts won two GlobeRunner Awards, one for being the Best Hotel Chain in Europe/Middle East/Africa, the other for Best Hotel Chain Dining/Restaurant.

For the second year in a row, readers recognized Delta Air Lines as the Best Airline in the Americas and, for the fourth consecutive year, Singapore Airlines won a GlobeRunner Award as the Best Airline in Asia/Pacific.

Transaero Airlines won two GlobeRunner Awards, one for being the Best Airline in Europe/Middle East/Africa, and one for having the Best Airline Food and Wine, giving the carrier its third and fourth GlobeRunner Awards in a three-year period.

Lufthansa continued its three-year streak for having the Best First Class Lounges and American Airlines received its second GlobeRunner Award, this one for Best Frequent Flyer Program. Virgin Atlantic Airways was recognized for Best Class Lounges.

Hertz was named Best Car Rental Chain in the World for the fourth year running, while honors for Best Airport in the Americas went to San Francisco International Airport, giving the airport its second GlobeRunner. Top recognition also went to Mercedes-Benz as the Best Car Manufacturer in the World and, for the fourth year in a row, FlyerTalk won as the Best General Travel Site.

The Points Guy won a GlobeRunner for Best Points and Miles Blog, the blog’s second, and won for Best General Travel Blog.
