United Sees Increase in Traffic, Load Factor for July
Total traffic for the Chicago-based airline during the month of July was 20.463 billion RPMs, or revenue passenger miles, an increase of 2.8% from 19.9 billion RPMs in July 2014. The carrier’s total capacity for the month was up 2.4%, to 23.51 billion ASMs, or available seat miles, from 22.95 ASMs last July.
United’s consolidated load factor also increased slightly, up 0.3 percentage points to 87% from 86.7% in July 2014.
In terms of international traffic, United saw a rise of 4.6%, while its international capacity increased by 4.9%. Meanwhile, the carrier saw a 4.5% increase in domestic revenue passenger miles, with a 3.6% increase in domestic available seat miles.
Mainline RPMs increased 4.6% with an increase of 4.2% in mainline ASMs, while regional RPMs decreased 9.4% with a 9.9% decrease in regional ASMs.
