British Airways to Begin San Jose, California-London Flights
Carrier to Use New Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner on Route
British Airways announced that it plans to launch new service between Mineta San Jose International Airport and London Heathrow on May 4, 2016. San Jose will be the airline’s fourth destination in the state of California, after Los Angeles, San Francisco, and San Diego.
The service will be the first regularly scheduled non-stop to the United Kingdom from San Jose. British Airways plans to use its new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft on the route.
The carrier is scheduled to take delivery of its first 787-9 Dreamliner this September. The aircraft is 20 feet longer than the 787-8, which allows for the addition of a first class cabin, a first for the carrier on its 787s.
The airline’s 787-9 Dreamliner will be outfitted with British Airways’ newly designed first class cabin, which will have eight lie-flat seats. Club World, the carrier’s business class section, will have 42 seats, World Traveller Plus, the airline’s premium economy section, will have 39 seats, and World Traveller, British Airways’ economy section, will have 127 seats.
