Starwood announced the opening of a new Westin hotel in San Jose, California.  Situated in a historic building in the city’s downtown area, the Westin San Jose is the 18th Westin property to open in California.

The hotel’s lobby has original moldings on the ceiling from the early 1900s building, as well as a vertical garden.  The property has 171 guestrooms and suites, each with flat screen TVs and complimentary Wi-Fi.

The hotel has a business center as well as 10,000 square feet (929 square meters) of meeting and event space, including a grand ballroom with vintage 1920s chandeliers.

Guests can dine at the hotel’s Il Fornaio restaurant, which offers Italian cuisine and is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  A fitness center is also located on the premises.
