DSC_0808 (1)Via Rail, Canada’s national rail passenger service, announced that train service linking Toronto with Ottawa and Montreal has resumed in both directions.

The railroad said that delays will be expected throughout the day due to temporary speed restrictions and possible railway congestion.

Rail service between the two city pairs was suspended yesterday after a Canadian National Railway freight train derailment that forced Via Rail to halt its passenger trains from Montreal and Ottawa to Toronto.

The derailment occurred near Bowmanville, Ontario at 2:15 p.m. EDT on Saturday.
