IMG_4390 (1)Starbucks Coffee announced that it has added Lyft, an e-hailing service, as a partner in its My Starbucks Rewards loyalty program.

Lyft customers will be able to earn points in the program, which Starbucks refers to as Stars, for every ride.  The points can then be redeemed for food and beverages at Starbucks locations.

In addition, Lyft drivers will also be able to earn points and will be able to receive Starbucks eGifts cards from their customers as a form of gratuity.

“Our digital loyalty ecosystem will strengthen Lyft’s ability to attract and retain customers in a highly profitable way, while at the same time accelerating the incrementality of redemption of rewards,” said Adam Brotman, Starbucks’ chief digital officer, in a statement.

Starbucks recently announced similar programs with Spotify and the New York Times, also allowing customers of these companies to earn points when making purchases.
