Starwood announced the opening of a new Westin hotel in downtown Austin, Texas.  The Westin Austin Downtown is the second Westin property to open in the Texas city.

The 19-story hotel has a 12-foot-tall custom art piece in the lobby, made from charred wood blocks that form the body of a guitar, honoring Austin’s claim as the live music capital of the world.  The property provides 366 guestrooms and suites.

Over 13,500 square feet (1,254 square meters) of meeting and event space are located on the premises, including 16 individual meeting rooms, each named after a famous Austin musician or venue, such as Joplin, Benson, Paramount, Continental, and Moody.  The hotel also offers a 4,500-square-foot (418-square-meter) ballroom and a business center.

Guests can dine at the property’s Stella San Jac restaurant, which serves southern cuisine and outdoor dining, and hosts live music in the bar and lounge area.  The restaurant also provides 24-hour in-room dining options.

A heated outdoor rooftop pool, as well as a 24-hour fitness center are also located on-premises.

To celebrate the opening, the hotel is offering members of the Starwood Preferred Guest loyalty program 1,000 bonus points for stays through September 12 of this year.
