JetBlue Reports Second Quarter Earnings
The airline’s profit in the second quarter was $152 million, compared to $61 million (excluding special items) in Q2 2014. Revenue for the quarter rose to $1.612 billion, a year-over-year increase of 12.4%. Passenger revenue per available seat mile, or Prasm, increased by 1.4% year-over-year.
The airline’s passenger traffic in the second quarter was 10.472 billion revenue passenger miles, or RPMs, up 8.7% from 9.632 billion RPMs in the second quarter of 2014. Capacity also rose 7.5% year-over-year, to 12.237 billion available seat miles, or ASMs, from 11.386 billion ASMs last year.
Meanwhile, passenger load factor in the second quarter rose one percentage point, up to 85.6% from 84.6% in the same period last year.
