InterContinental Hotels Group announced the opening of a new Hotel Indigo property in the city of York, England.  The Hotel Indigo York is located in the city’s historic Walmgate neighborhood.

The property has 101 guestrooms, with interiors inspired by the neighborhood’s history in chocolate. (Rowntree, the fourth largest confectionary manufacturer in the world when it was acquired by Nestlé in 1988, began in Walmgate.)

A fitness center is located on the premises, and dining options include the Yorkshire Meatball Company, which features hand-rolled fish balls, veggie balls, and meatballs, as well as a selection of Yorkshire craft beers.

The Hotel Indigo York is InterContinental’s ninth property in the English county of Yorkshire, and is the 19th Hotel Indigo in Europe.
