American Airlines Group announced financial results for the second quarter of 2015.

The airline reported a profit of $1.9 billion excluding net special charges, a 27% year-over-year increase.  This was the highest quarterly profit in the airline’s history.

Meanwhile, the carrier’s total revenue was down 4.6% from Q2 2014 to $10.8 billion.

American Airlines Group was formed by the merger of American Airlines’ parent AMR and US Airways Group late 2013.  It began flying under one single operating certificate in April and expects to operate the final flight using the US Airways name in October.
