Starwood announced two new Starwood Preferred Guest promotions.

The SPG Make It Count promotion allows travelers to earn 1,000 bonus Starpoints on stays of two or more nights that include a weekend night.  There is no limit to the number of 1,000-point bonuses members can earn and every Starwood hotel across the globe is participating.

Starwood defines a weekend night as either Friday night, Saturday night, or Sunday night, except in the Middle East, where it would be Thursday night, Friday night, or Saturday night.

Registration is required by August 15 and the 1,000-point bonus can be collected on eligible stays through August 31.

In addition, Starwood announced Sheraton Free Weekends. Members will earn a free Sheraton weekend night for every five nights a member stays at a Sheraton.  The promotion starts on July 9 and members can earn up to three free nights redeemable in any category Sheraton hotel or resort that can be used through December 13, 2015.  There are no blackout dates or other restrictions on using the free nights.

Starwood says this is the “richest” Sheraton-focused SPG promotion it has ever offered
