Cathay Pacific Partners with LoungeBuddy at SFO
Cathay Pacific Airways announced a partnership with LoungeBuddy to offer travelers additional information about the airline’s lounge at San Francisco International Airport.
Over the next 60 days, passengers with the LoungeBuddy app on their iPhone will receive customized information about Cathay’s first- and business-class lounge upon their entrance into the lounge at the airport. The information will be sent using iBeacon technology, which is activated when mobile devices are in close proximity to the transmitting device, in this case the lounge.
Passengers in the lounge will receive information such as the day’s food and beverage menu, as well an enhanced overview of the lounge’s available amenities. Travelers will also have the option to check in on social media.
As part of the partnership, passengers who use LoungeBuddy to share their Cathay lounge experience on Twitter will automatically be entered to win a daily prize drawing for a Cathay Pacific plush goat, commemorating the Chinese Zodiac year of the goat. In addition, users who share their experiences via either Twitter or Facebook will be entered to win a prize of 60,000 Cathay Pacific Asia Miles and one round-trip premium economy-class ticket to Hong Kong at the end of the promotion.
Cathay Pacific’s lounge in San Francisco is located in the airport’s International Terminal A. It is the carrier’s only lounge in the United States, and is open to first- and business-class passengers departing on Cathay- and oneworld members carrier-operated flights, as well as Marco Polo Club members with Silver Card status or above, and oneworld Sapphire or above members.
The lounge, which is open four hours prior to flight departure, has seven private workstations with desktop computer and complimentary Wi-Fi Internet, while the dining area has Cathay’s signature Noodle Bar, which features options such as dan dan mien and wonton noodles in soup, as well as a variety of hot and cold Western and Asian dishes. Three shower suites are also located in the lounge.
