Starwood and American Express announced new benefits for holders of the Starwood Preferred Guests credit card. The enhancements will go into effect on August 11.

Beginning on that date, SPG cardholders will receive a free subscription to Boingo’s American Express Preferred Plan. Cardholders will be able to use Wi-Fi on up to four devices at no charge.

SPG cardholders will also automatically receive complimentary in-room Wi-Fi when they stay at a Starwood hotel. In addition, holders of an SPG business credit card from American Express will have access to Sheraton Club Lounges at Sheraton properties, where complimentary breakfast, beverages, and evening hors d’oeuvres are offered.

Starwood will also do away with foreign transaction fees for cardholders when they use their SPG credit card from American Express when traveling abroad.

When the new benefits go into effect on August 11, Starwood will raise the annual fee for card membership from $65 to $95. The first year of membership for new members will remain complimentary.
