Accidental Shooting at Waldorf Astoria in New York Injures 5

Five people were injured Saturday evening at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City after a wedding guest accidentally fired a gun.

Vladimir Gotlibovsky was reported to have discharged a gun in his pocket.  The bullet richochetted and grazed another guest, Maya Rafailovich in the head.  Four others were injured by flying debris from the ricocheting bullet.

The incident occurred at 7:20 p.m. according to the New York City Police Department.

Gotlibovsky was taken into police custody for questioning.  Rafailovich and one other guest were taken to Bellevue Hospital, while two other guests were taken to Mt. Sinai St. Luke’s.  One person refused medical attention at the scene.
