DSC_0424United Airlines announced on Monday the beginning of construction on its new Terminal C North concourse at Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport. The $244 million, 265,000-square-foot new terminal will be more than 100,000 square feet larger than the existing Terminal C North.

The concourse will have 11 gates to accommodate United’s narrow-, mid-, and wide-body aircraft, as well as floor-to-ceiling windows offering views of the tarmac. Twenty new dining and retail establishments will be available in the new concourse, in addition to larger gate lounge areas.

United plans to have the new concourse completed by early 2017.

When construction is complete, the airport will demolish the existing Terminal C North facility for the reconstruction of the Mickey Leland International Terminal D.
