Alaska Airlines announced the debut of its new Preferred Plus seating, a selection that offers passengers greater seat pitch and leg room, as well as free drinks and early boarding.

Preferred Plus selections are the bulkhead and exit row seats, which have 36” to 40” pitch and increased legroom, as well as the normal 3” of recline that standard seats on the aircraft have. Standard seats have 31” to 32” pitch.

Preferred Plus passengers will also receive priority boarding and a complimentary cocktail or glass of wine or beer.

MVP, MVP Gold, and MVP Gold 75K members of Alaska Airlines’ Mileage Plan program can upgrade to Preferred Plus seating free at the time of booking. After they have had the opportunity to reserve the seats, other customers can book Preferred Seating beginning at $15 plus tax.

Upgrades for rows 6, 16, and 17 may be purchased within 24 hours before check in on the airline’s website, mobile app, or at the airport.
