DSC_0851Miami International Airport announced that it plans to roll out 44 additional APC, or automated passport control, kiosks.

APC kiosks reduce both passenger wait time and the U.S. Customs and Border Protection inspection process time significantly.  The APCs use biometric technology to match a passenger’s passport with face and fingerprint data.

The kiosks can be used by travelers from any of the 38 countries that participate in the visa waiver program, as well as by U.S. and Canadian citizens.

Miami International currently has APC kiosks in its North and South terminals.  The additional kiosks will be installed in the airport’s North, South, and Central terminals.  When the new installation is complete, the airport will have a total of 80.
