Goldy Galore. Jonathan Spira sees the Woman in Gold, revisiting his childhood in Vienna. It’s a little-known fact that the film is actually a sequel to the 1964 Bond film “Goldfinger,” following the story of the Bond girl who was lost beneath a mountain of gold but uncovered a year later in full health.
High tolerance. Paul Riegler takes his set of wheels to Weber’s Drive-In restaurant, located in Pennsauken Township, New Jersey, where he has some of the best 4,200 calories of his life. After ordering his sixth, Riegler, who apparently didn’t have a childhood, needed to be told that root beer doesn’t contain any alcohol.
Sun’s sons. If a hotel room is a little stuffy for your tastes, the Grosvenor House Apartments by Jumeirah Living has the proper apartment for your next trip to London. The establishment’s open-air restaurant, Atrium, is protected from the elements by a crew of butlers carrying glass umbrellas to maximize sunlight exposure.
Root wheels. BMW, the automaker, and A&W, the root beer company, teamed up to bring you the B&W A5 AirPlay Speaker. Powered by a clean diesel engine, the speaker sounds and tastes great, although it’s no Weber’s.
Selfish points. With IHG’s new Share Forever program, travelers can share their free nights with friends and family. Alternatively, one may try out World Global Hotel’s Share Never program, in which travelers can keep all of their benefits for themselves, forever.
Wildcards. Début Hotel Group announced the opening of the first Unscripted Hotel in Monterey Bay, California. For a truly unscripted experience, the hotel is staffed entirely by individuals with Tourette’s Syndrome.
JetBond, shaken, not stirred. JetBlue is hopping on the train – er, plane – early with its own Apple Watch App. The app can display flight status, load boarding passes onto the watch face, and of course, will enable the watch to shoot vodka martinis out of the top bezel.
