Hainan Airlines announced the launch of new non-stop service between Chongqing, China and Rome, Italy.  The carrier operates the service twice a week, using Airbus A330-200 aircraft.

Flights depart Chongqing Jianbei International Airport at 1:30 a.m. on Mondays and Fridays, and arrive at Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino Airport in Rome at 7:50 a.m.  From Rome, flights depart at 12:50 p.m., also on Mondays and Fridays, and arrive in Chongqing at 5:45 a.m. the next day.

Hainan’s A330-200s used on the route are configured with 18 lie-flat seats in business class, and 242 seats in economy.  Each seat is provided with a personal TV entertainment system.

The route is the first non-stop to Western Europe from the city of Chongqing.  Hainan plans to launch additional international routes to the U.S. in the near future, including Beijing-San Jose, Shanghai-Boston, and Shanghai-Seattle.
