ANA to Introduce 787-9 Dreamliner on International Route
All Nippon Airways announced that it will debut its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner on its Tokyo-Munich route beginning May 5. The carrier will be the first in Japan to operate the aircraft on international routes.
ANA’s 787-9 Dreamliner flights will depart Tokyo Haneda at 12:30 p.m. and arrive in Munich at 5:20 p.m. From Munich, flights will depart at 9:25 p.m. and arrive in Tokyo at 3:50 p.m. the next day.
ANA’s international 787-9 is outfitted with 215 seats, 46 more than the 787-8. The plane has ANA’s new Sky Live TV, which allows passengers to view broadcast television programming in real time, as well as an upgraded ANA Sky Map, which will give users a new multifunctional 3D perspective of the flight path.
ANA also said that its 787-9 will be the first 787 in its fleet with in-flight Wi-Fi.
The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner is the second member of the Dreamliner family to be produced. Similar to the 787-8, the stretch jet uses 20% less fuel and produces 20% fewer emissions than similar-sized airplanes. The 787-9 is 20’ (six meters) longer, has greater capacity, and has a range of 8,300 nautical miles (15,372 kilometers), while the 787-8 is limited to 7,850 nautical miles (14,500 kilometers).
