United Airlines February Figures Largely Unchanged

United Airlines announced operational results for February 2015.  Both the carrier’s consolidated traffic and consolidated capacity for the month were up slightly year-over-year, while its load factor decreased marginally.

Total traffic for the Chicago-based airline during the month of February was 13.692 billion RPMs, or revenue passenger miles, an increase of 0.6% from 13.688 billion RPMs in February 2014.  The carrier’s total capacity for the month was down 0.4%, however, to 17.219 billion ASMs, or available seat miles, from 17.292 billion ASMs last February.

United’s consolidated load factor increased slightly, up 0.3 percentage points to 79.5% from 79.2% in February 2014.

United’s international traffic rose 3.8%, while its international capacity increased by 2%.  Meanwhile, the carrier saw a 1.8% decrease in domestic revenue passenger miles, with a 1.5% decrease in domestic available seat miles.

Mainline RPMs increased 0.9% with an increase of 0.3% in mainline ASMs, while regional RPMs decreased 5.3% with a 5.1% decrease in regional ASMs.
