Hudson News Parent Dufry to Acquire World Duty Free for €1.3 Billion
The deal, which value’s Milan-based World Duty Free at €3.6 billion including debt, will result in a company that will run over 2,000 stores in airports and cruise ships.
World Duty Free is 50.1% owned by Edizione, a holding company that is controlled by Italy’s Benetton family.
Dufry runs the chain of Hudson News shops that are in many airports and last year acquired a competitor, Nuance Group, for 1.55 billion Swiss francs ($1.61 billion).
