Similar to the new Golf, the interior is crafted using elegant materials with rich textures. The plastic trim is acceptable although metal would have been a better choice. Controls, as one would expect in a German automobile, are intuitive and exactly where they are expected to be.

Gauges are large and clear and all 2015 Golfs are equipped with a 5.8” touchscreen that supports a variety of entertainment features, including Bluetooth streaming, satellite radio, USB, and HD radio. Volkswagen’s proprietary connector supports USB as well as Lightning (for newer iPhones) and the old 30-pin iPod/iPhone adapter. The Fender audio system, standard in SE and SEL trim levels, is one of the best at the price point.

The navi’s maps were easy to follow and showed reasonably accurate traffic flow. While I’m not a touchscreen fan, it was responsive and the menu bar popped up when my hand moved near the screen. Online search isn’t supported but one can use Volkswagen’s Car-Net mobile app to look up destinations and send them to the car.
