Virgin Hotels’ First Property Opens in Chicago
Virgin Hotels announced the opening of its first property, Virgin Hotels Chicago. The hotel is located in downtown Chicago, in a 26-story Art Deco building.
The property has 250 guestrooms, which the hotel refers to as “Chambers,” 38 of which are suites. The rooms have doors that are painted red in Virgin’s signature color.
Each room is divided into two sections; the dressing room, which consists of a hallway, closet, bathroom, and vanity, and the lounge, which includes the bed, desk, dining area, and refrigerator. The dressing room is separated from the lounge by a set of sliding doors.
The hotel also has the 11,000-square-foot (1,021-square-meter) Commons Club, which is divided into four parts. The Commons Bar offers drinks and snacks, while the Shag Room has large couches. The Funny Library has vintage toys and art from local antique stores, as well as a curated collection of humorous books, and the Kitchen is an all-day dining restaurant.
In addition, a new diner, a coffee and wine bar, a spa, and two penthouse suites are all scheduled to open by April.
Virgin Hotels’ next property is slated to open in Nashville in the fall of 2016, followed by one in New York in the summer of 2017.
