Southwest Sees Increase in January Traffic

Southwest Airlines announced operational results for January 2015.
The carrier’s total system traffic was 8.048 billion RPMs, or revenue passenger miles, a year-over-year increase of 8.6% from 7.413 billion RPMs in January 2014. The airline had a total system capacity of 10.709 billion ASMs, or available seat miles, up 10.2% from 9.721 billion last January.
Meanwhile, passenger load factor was down, dropping 1.2 percentage points to 75.1% from 76.3% last January.
Southwest also said that its Prasm, or passenger revenue per available seat mile, had decreased by approximately 1% year-over-year.
