Gogo announced plans to bring its faster ATG-4 service to the business aviation market.

ATG-4 will increase peak Internet speeds on the aircraft from up to 3.1 Mbps to up to 9.8 Mbps. The new technology achieves these speeds through the use of an additional directional antenna, a dual modem, and EV-DO Rev. B technology.

The new offering will be marketed as ATG 8000, and first deliveries are expected to take place in April of this year.  Gogo has implemented ATG-4 technology on over 650 commercial aircraft since its introduction three years ago.

The Chicagoland-based company says the new service is intended for corporate shuttles and other high-density operations.
